Our Story

Community Lotteries Limited started in the small town of Darvel, Scotland. In 2018 we launched a town lottery as a better way of raising funds for local good causes. Initially it was for small but important improvements to where we live. Things like repairs to the town hall roof, a new organic garden, better facilities for people with mobility issues and, most popular of all, fancier Xmas lights.

It was incredibly successful. We experienced faster growth and higher levels of participation than we ever thought possible. We were delighted, and soon we started to receive calls from many other towns from all parts of Scotland and realised that what we had could be replicated in other communities.

We were happy to share our experiences and delighted when other towns started to launch their own lotteries based on the Darvel model.

However, some of the voluntary organisations who wanted to set up lotteries just didn’t have the skills, time or knowledge to operate and sustain it over time. For that reason we set up Community Lotteries Limited – a service company that specialises in the management, development and operation of small society lotteries.

We take the hassle out of running a lottery by doing the ‘boring’ stuff like registration, draw set up, reporting, licence management, query handling, policy development, payment checking and general administration.

Leaving you, the Lottery Provider, to focus on the fun bit and where you can add most value to your community – promoting the lottery, engaging the community, conducting draws and managing the allocation of funds generated for local good causes.
